Tribal Enrollment

Our tribal roll is open to Chaubunagungamaug Nipmuck descendants who have an ancestor on the tribal roll or who can claim lineal descent to a "Dudley Indian".

  • enumerated in the 1861 Report to the Governor and Council concerning the Indians of the Commonwealth (Earle Report) conducted by Indian Commissioner John Milton Earle
  • or on the 1890 Worcester Probate Court list of beneficiaries to the funds from the reservation land sales.

Applicants who have an ancestor on the tribal roll, will need to complete an application, sign an affirmation regarding ancestry and provide a certified birth certificate. Additional documents may be needed based on the applicant. Applications who do not have an ancestor on the tribal roll will need to complete the above steps and also complete the tasks needed to document their lineal descent to a Dudley Indian as specified above.

The tribal enrollment committee is working on improvements to the enrollment process as well as the forms that we use to collect the key information needed to process application requests. We are working to make the process easy to understand and to complete the forms.

Also, much effort is underway behind the scenes to ensure the data in our tribal roll is up-to-date and can also be used to help communicate with our citizens. Keep watch as we begin to unroll many of these new improvements.
