The Chaubunagungamaug Band of Nipmuck Indians tribal council has started an initiative to build its technical and business infrastructure to better facilitate its mission to promote a better quality of life for our citizens and serve the needs of our people. Part of this initiative has been funded by an Environmental Justice (EJ) Capacity Building Grant.
The goals of the initiative are to establish a way to improve communication with the CBNI citizens and to plan for a way to identify citizen needs. A related goal of the Tribal Enrollment Committee is to enhance and clarify the tribal enrollment process.
A three-month project plan was shortened to a period of 3 weeks of funding and the project team is working diligently in an attempt to complete as much of the work as possible within the funding timeframe.
Tasks included in this initiative are as follows:
- An update of the contact information for citizens on the tribal roll
- A new and improved website with expanded content
- Preparation work to establish email accounts for councilors and key tribal representatives
- A new process to print redesigned tribal ID cards
- Establishment of a seasonal newsletter
- A plan to begin to identify community needs
- A community event to build community engagement
- An improved tribal enrollment process
- A suite of productivity tools to include storage for organizational documents
Team members working on the project include:
- Technical Infrastructure Team Leads: Ite Santana (Councilor/Treasurer/Cultural Coordinator) and Deb Frechette (Business Infrastructure Specialist)
- Tribal Enrollment Committee members: Barbi Gardiner (Councilor/Chair), Claudia Zatorski, Deb Frechette
